Areas of expertise

I’ve worked as a dietitian in private practice and hospital nutrition since 2001, so there’s not much I can’t help with! My particular areas of expertise and further study include:

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), fodmaps and Food intolerance

I’m a qualified and experienced teacher of the Low FODMAP Diet (Monash University Dietitian trained).

Consultations include extensive food lists, meal plans, label reading, and meal planning resources to guide you through the elimination, challenge, and liberalisation phases of the Low FODMAP Diet.

I’m also experienced with non-FODMAP food sensitivities and elimination diets, and can help you navigate intolerances to natural food chemicals (salicylates, amines, glutamates) and additives.

Accreditation: Monash University Low FODMAP Diet for Dietitians course , 2019

Inflammatory Bowel Disease (crohns and colitis)

Should you be eating low fibre? High fibre? Low FODMAP? What about supplements and probiotics? You may have been referred for a trial of exclusive enteral nutrition (EEE) or Crohns Disease Exclusion Diet (CDED) by your gastroenterologist.

No two people with IBD have the same experience or symptoms. I provide individualised nutrition assessment and advice to help you understand IBD and the nutrition implications for you.

I can work with you and your medical team, to optimise nutrition and help you manage the symptoms of IBD.

Accreditation: Crohns & Colitis Australia (CCA) Gut Smart course, 2021

Coeliac disease

Have you or a family member been diagnosed with coeliac disease?  It’s a big learning curve and can be totally overwhelming – which is why you need a specialist dietitian in your corner.

I can teach you everything you need to know about a gluten free diet, including:

  • Down to earth education and practical written resources

  • Help with label reading, eating out on a gluten free diet, cross contamination, cooking and menu planning

Accreditation: Current Professional Member, Coeliac Australia.

Optimising gut health

Dietary advice for gut health can be overwhelming and expensive - but it doesn’t have to be I promise!

I assess your current diet, along with your medical conditions and unique lifestyle factors.

Together, we can work on achieving your best gut health, through simple, evidence-based ‘real food’ solutions the whole family can enjoy.

I can also provide advice and guidance re: probiotics, fibre and supplements for gut health.

supporting liver health

Individualised dietary assessment, advice, education and meal planning to help manage fatty liver disease (without the usual weight loss spiel).

I don’t use cookie cutter meal plans or VLCD diets because I know from experience that they are not sustainable. I’ll work with you to develop enjoyable, healthy dietary patterns that lead to real improvements to your health.

Nutrition support and advice for patients with liver failure and related complications.

events

Are you looking for an experienced and engaging speaker to deliver nutrition seminars or workshops?  Let’s chat!

I’ve been writing and presenting nutrition content for many years, and have experience with audiences ranging from community organisations right through to corporate events.

Of all the topics I’ve presented over the years, nutrition trends and gut health are the key topics of interest that come up time and time again.  I’m passionate about sharing my knowledge of gastrointestinal nutrition and helping people apply nutrition science using practical (and delicious) food solutions.

I’d love to work with you to make your next event one that people will remember.

Here are just some ideas:

  • Staff wellness programs –  diet and lifestyle sessions to help your employees with optimal energy and focus, both in and out of the workplace

  • Gut health workshops – exploring dietary patterns, functional foods, probiotics, and meal planning for optimal gut health

  • Cooking demonstrations and shopping tours – Can you really trust food labels? Which muesli bars does a dietitian recommend? Should we be choosing organic food?
