Food is my first language.jpg

A bit more about me

I graduated as a dietitian over 20 years ago, and have learnt bucket-loads about nutrition since then. I’m a mum of two awesome teenagers, and I spend a whole lot of time in my kitchen. I really think that food can be the glue that brings families together. I can help you with inspiration, meal planning, and practical tips for gut health that won’t cost a bomb.

I’m a ‘non-diet’ or HAES (Health At Every Size) dietitian

What does that mean even? I’m glad you asked! It means I have a weight-neutral approach to nutrition. I’m here for people of all shapes and sizes, and I believe all foods can have their place - even cake and chips! This space will always be free of fat shaming, food guilt and diet culture.

food issues? Chances are I can help you.

I’ve spent the last two decades studying nutrition science and helping real people. I’m recognised as an expert in the management of IBS, IBD and coeliac disease. Having family members with coeliac disease, food intolerance and food allergies (I know - how fun!) has put me to the test, and honed my practical knowledge of food products, cooking for special diets and gut health.

I’m a good listener

I think one of the most important parts of a nutrition consultation is listening to you and hearing about your journey so far. I love helping people to untangle their food worries, and I’m not judgey when it comes to food. I know better than anyone that nutrition isn’t black and white – and what suits one person might not work for another. Can we explore food intolerance symptoms without super restrictive diets or rigid rules? Absolutely!

Writing and speaking

Anyone who knows me will also know that I love to write and am a passionate advocate for evidence-based nutrition science and calling out BS.  I’m a seasoned presenter of nutrition workshops and I regularly write and edit nutrition copy for magazines and brands.  Sometimes I teach other dietitians and students about gastrointestinal nutrition.  Follow me over on Instagram for a mix of myth-busting, gut health nutrition tips, recipes, and foodie facts.

And When I’m not immersed in dietitian things?

Well let’s be honest - whatever I’m doing will usually still involve food! If I’m not in my kitchen, I’m probably out in search of coffee, snacks, or foodie things for the next meal. Apart from eating, I’m also very fond of my family and friends, yoga, the beach, my growing indoor jungle and Billie - our delightful dog who is 100% sure she’s human.
